Maritime Boss Extols Government for Promotion of Peace Through NCSM

The Commissioner General of the Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA), Cllr. Neto Zarzar Lighe, has extolled the role of the Government of Liberia (GoL) for the continuing promotion of peace through the National County Sports Meet (NCSM). 

Organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports annually, NCSM is Liberia's biggest sports festival. This year’s edition of the tournament is being held under the theme: “Inclusive Through Sports.”

Speaking to this paper recently in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, Cllr. Lighe pointed out the significance of the tournament, stating that it has over the years helped in the building of peace and unity. 

Cllr. Lighe, a prominent son of Grand Gedeh, said this year’s county meet, like previous years, is of major significance to the peace of Liberia. 

“First of all, let me expressed how happy I am with Ministry of Youth and Sports about the preparation of this year’s County Meet, and I am happy that my own county was selected as one of the host counties. But this is beyound just Grand Gedeh; the biggest picture is how the County Meet has helped to unite us,” stated Cllr. Lighe. 

“The more we build together, each other in sports, the more we bring our people together through sports, the better we will be as a nation. The most important thing is to organize programs like these that will bring our people together. We have four counties presently in Grand Gedeh and they are all making new friends.”

Despite hailing from Grand Gedeh, Cllr. Lighe doesn’t care who wins or loses – all he wants is the best team to win. 

“At the end of the day, we must have good sportsmanship and peace. We must do as much as possible to serve the stranger father’s role. Let’s host the counties in peace in observance of the peace of Liberia. Again, many thanks to the Ministry of Youth and Sports the county’s leadership for this colorful ceremony here today. We are excited as Liberians, because this is beyond Grand Gedeh as a county.” 

Also speaking briefly, the Superintendent of the County, .Alex Grant, expressed great joy for the opportunity afforded his county to be selected as one of the host. 

“It’s an experience that worth sharing initiatives and we are excited as head of this county to have this opportunity of leading the process of hosting this tournament. We are excited. Let’s maintain the peace and let’s show hospitality to our guests,” he added.
