Pres. Boakai Arrives Morocco for MEDays Summit

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. on Monday evening, November 24, 2025 departed Liberia for Tangier, Morocco, to join world leaders at the 17th edition of the MEDays Forum, an influential global platform running from November 26–29, 2025.

His participation marks a significant moment for Liberia’s diplomatic visibility on the world stage.

The President’s trip comes at the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, under whose High Patronage the MEDays Forum established in 2008 has grown into one of the most respected conferences for strategic dialogue on geopolitics, development, and global economic shifts.

Commonly dubbed “the Southern Forum,” MEDays is renowned for amplifying the priorities and aspirations of the Global South. Over its 17-year span, the conference has hosted more than 3,500 speakers and attracted over 60,000 global participants, according to official records.

President Boakai is slated to deliver a major address on the Forum’s opening day, November 26, 2025.

He becomes the first of five Heads of State and Government expected to speak at this year’s highly anticipated gathering.

The 2025 Summit is being held under the compelling theme, “Fractures and Polarization: Reinventing the Global Equation.”

It aims to unpack the escalating geopolitical tensions and the urgent need to overhaul international cooperation mechanisms.

More than 300 speakers, over 7,000 participants, and delegations from 100-plus countries are expected to join the event.

The high-level lineup includes policy experts, Nobel Laureates, business executives, global researchers, and senior government officials.

Key discussions are expected to drill into the evolving dynamics of global alliances, the fragility of multilateral systems, and the future of collective problem-solving as nations grapple with renewed divisions.

Following his keynote intervention, President Boakai is scheduled to receive the prestigious Grand Prix MEDays the Forum’s highest award.

The honor celebrates his leadership in strengthening democratic governance and promoting national reforms.

The award further recognizes his commitment to peace, regional stability, and Liberia’s renewed efforts to reassert itself as a responsible and constructive global partner.

Organizers say the accolade reflects the President’s growing international credibility.

Throughout the Forum, President Boakai will engage in a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings with world leaders, policymakers, and international development partners.

These discussions are expected to deepen Liberia’s diplomatic reach and broaden avenues for cooperation.

Officials say Liberia’s presence at MEDays highlights the country’s determination to reposition itself in global conversations surrounding development, peace-building, and economic transformation.

The President is traveling with a small but strategic delegation of senior government officials, consistent with his mandate for cost-effective governance and targeted diplomacy.

In his absence, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Samuel A. Stevquoah will preside over Cabinet activities and ensure continuity in administrative operations.

Liberians at home and abroad await the outcomes of President Boakai’s engagements as the nation continues to seek stronger global partnerships.

President Boakai is expected to return to the country on November 28, 2025, according to an Executive Mansion release.
