LiMA Tops National Tax Contribution
The Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) has emerged as a leading force in Liberia’s public sector after being honored as the highest income tax remitting institution in the country.
The recognition was conferred by the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), which cited LiMA’s consistent and substantial contributions to national revenue generation.
The award underscores LiMA’s strong adherence to Liberia’s tax regulations and its growing role in strengthening the country’s fiscal framework.
Officials at the LRA noted that the Authority’s performance reflects a broader commitment to financial discipline and compliance within the public sector.
The honor also highlights LiMA’s internal governance systems, which have emphasized transparency and accountability in its financial operations.
At the center of the institution’s recent success is its Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr., whose leadership has been credited with driving reforms.
Cllr. Lighe described the achievement as a collective victory for the institution, praising the dedication and professionalism of LiMA’s workforce.
He stated that the recognition is a direct result of sustained efforts to improve operational efficiency and maintain high standards in public service delivery.
According to him, the Authority remains focused on fulfilling its mandate to regulate and promote Liberia’s maritime sector effectively.
Over the years, LiMA has undertaken a series of strategic reforms designed to boost revenue mobilization and strengthen institutional performance.
These reforms have included improvements in administrative processes, enhanced oversight mechanisms, and the adoption of best practices in governance.
Observers say such measures have positioned LiMA as one of the most reliable revenue-generating entities in Liberia’s public sector.
The Authority’s growing reputation is also tied to its role in managing Liberia’s globally recognized maritime registry.
Through these efforts, LiMA has contributed significantly to the country’s domestic revenue base, supporting key government programs.
The institution has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of fiscal responsibility moving forward.
LiMA emphasized that it will continue aligning its operations with national development priorities set by the government.
As Liberia seeks to expand its revenue streams, LiMA’s performance is being viewed as a model for other public institutions to emulate.
The Authority also pledged to deepen its contribution to economic growth through responsible financial stewardship.
