LDEA Cracks Down On LRD 377,750 Drug Trafficking...Suspect Nabbed In Pleebo Raid
In a significant crackdown on illicit drug trade, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) executed a meticulously planned search and seizure operation in Pleebo Zone 3, leading to the arrest of a notorious suspect involved in drug possession and distribution.
Acting on intelligence, LDEA officers stormed the residence of Dee Cracks, a 25-year-old Liberian national of the Lorma Tribe, uncovering a substantial cache of illegal substances.
The arrest marks another victory in Liberia’s relentless fight against drug-related crimes.
During the operation, law enforcement officers seized a range of banned substances with a staggering street value of LRD 377,750.
The confiscated drugs included:
10.59g of Cocaine, 264,750LRD, 8g of Kush valued at 80,000LRD, 6 Scrips of Tramadol valued at 18,000LRD and 1kg of Marijuana valued at LRD 15,000.
According to LDEA authorities, these substances were intended for illegal distribution in Pleebo and surrounding areas, posing a serious threat to public health and safety.
Following the shocking discovery, Dee Cracks was immediately apprehended and escorted to the LDEA headquarters in Harper for further questioning.
Sources within the agency confirm that he confessed to possessing and distributing illegal substances, prompting the investigative board to charge him under Liberia’s 2023 Drug and Substances Act.
Based on the evidence and the suspect’s own admissions, the LDEA has leveled two major charges against Dee Cracks:
Unlicensed sale, administration, distribution, and transit of a controlled substance (Section 14.85)
Unlicensed possession of a controlled substance (Section 14.89)
These offenses carry severe legal consequences, underscoring the Liberian government’s zero-tolerance stance on drug-related crimes.
This latest operation is part of the LDEA’s broader campaign to dismantle drug networks across Liberia.
Authorities have been ramping up efforts to curb the proliferation of narcotics, which have increasingly become a menace in many Liberian communities.
LDEA emphasized the agency’s commitment to ensuring a drug-free society.
“The arrest of Dee Cracks sends a strong message to those engaging in the illegal drug trade. The LDEA will not relent in its fight to protect our communities from the devastating effects of narcotics,” the spokesperson stated.
Residents of Pleebo Zone 3 have expressed relief and gratitude for the LDEA’s swift intervention.
Many community members voiced concerns over the increasing presence of drugs in their neighborhood and the negative impact on youth and public safety.
With the case now in the hands of the judicial system, Dee Cracks is set to face trial in the coming days.
If convicted, he could face harsh penalties, including lengthy imprisonment and hefty fines.
Legal analysts suggest that under the Liberia Drug and Substances Act, suspects found guilty of large-scale drug offenses often receive maximum sentencing to deter others from engaging in similar activities.
Law enforcement agencies are using this case as a warning to drug traffickers operating in Liberia.
Authorities are intensifying surveillance and encouraging citizens to report suspicious activities to aid in dismantling drug syndicates.
As the fight against drug abuse continues, the LDEA is urging the public to play an active role in helping authorities identify and eliminate the root causes of drug trade in their communities.
“We need collective action to keep our communities safe. Parents, educators, and community leaders must all work together to prevent our young people from falling into the trap of substance abuse.”
