Musa Bility Faces Calls for Political Rejection

Thomas Ansumana, Secretary General of the Movement for Justice in Liberia (MOFJL), has called on Liberians to reject individuals accused of corruption, singling out former football executive and businessman Musa Bility.

Ansumana cited multiple allegations against Bility, including embezzlement and misdirection of Liberia’s Road Fund, which is financed through petroleum revenues. He emphasized that such individuals should never be elected to public office in the country.

“Musa Bility faces multiple allegations of embezzlement. He received a ban from all FIFA activities worldwide and was found guilty of misdirecting Liberia’s Road Fund,” Ansumana wrote. “Such an individual should never be elected to public office.”

The Road Fund scandal, in which Bility is implicated, involved the misappropriation of funds meant for national infrastructure projects. Reports indicate that Bility has since begun repaying the stolen amounts, though public sentiment remains sharply critical.

Yesterday, August 15, 2025, Bility appeared on Spoon Network, where he described his legislative colleagues as the most corrupt in government. He further challenged the government to produce evidence of his criminality, reigniting public debate over accountability.

MOFJL asserts that Bility’s public admission to misdirecting Road Fund money makes him unfit for any public office in Liberia. The organization urged voters to consider the long-term implications of electing individuals with a history of corruption.

Thomas Ansumana and MOFJL have a record of actively promoting justice and accountability in Liberia. During the George Weah administration, the organization advocated for sanctions against government officials accused of corruption, leading to multiple sanctions being enforced.

Currently, MOFJL collaborates with the Office of the War Crimes Court in Liberia, demonstrating a commitment to legal accountability and the strengthening of public institutions. Ansumana emphasized that fighting corruption is central to Liberia’s democratic and economic development.
